How BestCloseBy handles data

This policy explains the information used to run ranked nearby shortlists, credit billing, abuse prevention, and support.

Effective June 3, 2026

Who operates BestCloseBy

BestCloseBy is operated by INITIATOR LLC, a Delaware limited liability company. For privacy questions, email privacy@bestcloseby.com.

Information we collect

We collect account information such as your email address, authentication identifiers, account membership, credit balance, and billing status. We also keep usage records needed to meter live Google Places pulls, including endpoint, credits used, units, timestamps, query hash, and limited request metadata.

When you search, the app uses the location, categories, radius, ranking preferences, open-now setting, exclusions, and similar filters you choose. Favorites, hidden categories, recent searches, and some preferences may be stored in your browser so the app feels consistent between visits.

We may collect technical logs, device/browser data, IP-derived security signals, and error information to keep the service reliable, prevent abuse, and diagnose production issues.

Google Places and Maps data

BestCloseBy uses Google Maps Platform and Google Places data to create ranked shortlists. Google may process requests according to the Google Privacy Policy. Google Places content is subject to Google Maps Platform policies, including restrictions on caching Places content. Place IDs may be stored longer because Google exempts place IDs from those caching restrictions.

BestCloseBy does not promise an exhaustive directory of every nearby business. Google can cap, omit, reorder, or limit available result sets, and BestCloseBy shows coverage limits when the app cannot confidently broaden results further.

Payments and credits

Payments are handled by Stripe. BestCloseBy receives payment and checkout records such as Stripe customer identifiers, checkout session identifiers, payment status, purchase amount, currency, and credits purchased. BestCloseBy does not store full card numbers.

Credit balances and usage events are stored so live Google Places pulls can be charged before paid API calls happen, abuse can be investigated, and account history can be reconciled.

How we use information

We use information to authenticate users, maintain accounts, process credit purchases, reserve credits before paid Google calls, rank nearby places, remember user preferences, prevent misuse, debug errors, estimate operating costs, and communicate about service or billing issues.

Service providers

We rely on infrastructure and service providers including Supabase for authentication and database services, Stripe for payments, Google Maps Platform for place and map data, and Vercel or similar hosting/logging providers for application delivery.

We do not sell personal information. We may disclose information when required for legal, security, fraud-prevention, payment, operational, or support reasons.

Retention and choices

Browser-stored data can be cleared from your browser. Account, billing, usage, and security records are kept as long as needed to operate credits, comply with legal and tax obligations, investigate abuse, resolve disputes, and maintain reliable service.

You can request account or privacy help at privacy@bestcloseby.com. Some billing, security, or legal records may need to be retained even after account support requests.
